4 Guidelines for Avoiding Ugly Sheet Metal Parts
We’re just going to say it. . . nobody likes an ugly part. One thing that sets Ameritex apart from your typical garage shop is that we can make your custom fabrications look just as good as they function. But it’s hard to achieve a cosmetic finish when the design itself doesn’t support that goal. In our many years of experience, we’ve identified several factors that compromise the cosmetic appearance of end products, and we’re [...]
How Your Fabricator Can Help with Your Sheet Metal Fabrication Design
When designers and engineers request quotes for metal fabrication services, our standard practice is to conduct a Design for Manufacturability (DFM) review to ensure that each part and assembly can flow through our shop efficiently. In most cases, we identify opportunities to optimize designs to improve quality, cost, and lead time. Unfortunately, we don’t always have enough time to make these adjustments without impacting customers’ delivery timelines. You deserve the best custom fabrications, and we [...]
Introducing FlexLines: Ameritex’s Efficient Solution for Sheet Metal and Structural Assemblies
Ameritex’s journey to implementing lean manufacturing practices at our precision sheet metal fabrication shop continues, and we’re thrilled to announce the latest development: Through our work with the BeehiveFund, we applied flexible assembly lines to our shop processes that we now refer to as “Flexlines”. What Are FlexLines and How Does the Process Work? FlexLines are flexible fabrication lines we’ve established to make custom fabrications in a rapid and controlled manner. The goal is [...]
Product Highlight: Sheet Metal Fabricated Buildings and Containers
We’re back with another installment of our Product Highlight series, where we feature custom fabrications we commonly build at Ameritex. We recently spotlighted sheet metal fabricated tanks and structural fabricated racks, so be sure to check out those blogs if you didn’t catch them already. Today, let's take a deep dive into sheet metal fabricated buildings and containers—frequently used as analyzer shelters, generator enclosures, E houses for MCC and Switchgear enclosures, battery storage containers, work [...]

DFM Tips: Best Practices for Designing Tube Laser Parts
When your custom fabrication requires metal tubes or structural members, tube laser cutting is the best bet for speed, precision, flexibility, and accuracy. This automated machining process, which involves cutting tubes of various shapes to specified lengths or lasering patterns into tubes, is much faster and more effective than alternatives like sawing through tubes and manually drilling holes. However, as with any manufacturing method, there are standard best practices to follow when requesting tube laser [...]
Ameritex’s New Powder Coating System for Custom Fabrications
Ameritex is always investing in new technologies to serve our customers better. We recently added a 20-foot Rohner Batch Non-Reclaim Powder Coating Booth, Empire blast booth and GAT gas fired oven to take our powder coating capabilities to the next level. We often recommend powder coating as an effective alternative to wet paint because of its durability and fast turnaround time—and our new powder coating line will allow us to speed up the process even [...]
Improve Sheet Metal Fabrication Lead Times with Laser Welding
We’re thrilled to offer a new capability that enables us to provide high-quality welding services faster than ever before. Introducing. . . laser welding at Ameritex! What Is Laser Welding? Laser welding is a quicker and easier alternative to traditional MIG and TIG welding. It uses a precisely targeted laser beam to fuse materials. While it was traditionally reserved for light-duty applications, laser welding has become much more versatile due to recent technological advancements. In [...]
